Veteran news anchor Norah O'Donnell made a surprise return to CBS Mornings as co-host this week, temporarily rejoining Gayle King and Nate Burleson on the programme.

O'Donnell, who previously hosted the morning show alongside King and Charlie Rose, is in town promoting her new book, We the Women: The Hidden Heroes Who Shaped America, which examines women's roles in history.

Announcing the appearance on Instagram, she wrote: “TV alert: I’ll be joining Gayle King and Nate Burleson this week to anchor CBS Mornings to talk about my new book. Tune in bright and early.”
