The new crime drama You’re Killing Me lands on screens tonight (Friday, August 21) at 8pm on U and Channel 4. The six-part series stars Brooke Shields as mystery novelist Allison “Allie” Chandler, whose fictional murder cases become real when a fellow writer turns up dead.
Allie is not convinced the death was an accident and decides to investigate. She is forced to team up with Andi Wallace, a cash-strapped Gen Z true-crime podcaster played by Amalia Williamson. The pair do not hit it off at first, as Allie is an experienced mystery writer while Andi brings a younger, more cynical approach shaped by her obsession with true crime.
Unlikely Sleuths Team Up
Despite their constant bickering, the unlikely duo soon realise they might make a good detective team. Their first case begins at the International Mystery Writers Convention, where the suspicious death of a critic sends them hunting for answers. They uncover scandals within the publishing world and find themselves in more danger than they bargained for.
Their investigation takes a terrifying turn when they survive a near-fatal attack, before eventually exposing a killer hiding in plain sight. Solving the first murder is only the beginning, as the series also teases a much bigger mystery surrounding Andi's missing mother, while a mysterious figure appears to be keeping a close eye on the pair.
Brooke Shields on Her Role
Speaking about the series last year, lead star Brooke Shields, who also acted as an executive producer, said: "I'm overjoyed to collaborate once again with the incredible Robin Bernheim (creator) who has created two strong, smart women you want to root for within Allie and Andi."
"The writing and storytelling really resonate with me, and this is a project I'm not only proud of but a role I can't wait to play."
Binge the Entire Series
All six episodes of You’re Killing Me are available as a box set on U from launch, meaning fans can binge the entire series after watching the opening episode. The show starts tonight, Friday, August 21, at 8pm on U and Channel 4.
