Netflix's The Boroughs is almost here, and it boasts an all-star cast. The series will debut on Thursday, May 21, following a group of misfit retirees who must uncover a dark, otherworldly secret threatening their New Mexico retirement community. Executive produced by Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers, here is everything you need to know about the cast.
Sam – Alfred Molina
The arrival of newcomer Sam Cooper kicks off the story. A retired engineer still grieving his late wife Lily (Jane Kaczmarek), he experiences a monstrous encounter that makes him realize the community he never wanted to join needs saving. Alfred Molina is known for roles in Feud, Boogie Nights, Frida, and Spider-Man 2.
Renee – Geena Davis
Geena Davis, famed for classics like The Fly, Thelma and Louise, A League of Their Own, and Stuart Little, as well as a four-year stint on Grey’s Anatomy, plays Renee. Described as a cynical rock 'n' roll former music manager who refuses to be sidelined by age.
Jack – Bill Pullman
Bill Pullman, best recognized for playing Harry Ambrose in The Sinner and starring in Independence Day and The Equalizer, portrays Jack. He is the life of the party in the retirement community, treating all neighbours like family.
Judy – Alfre Woodard
Alfre Woodard, known for 12 Years a Slave, Annabelle, Star Trek: First Contact, and more, plays Judy. She is a sharp-witted former journalist whose investigative instincts tell her something sinister is happening in The Boroughs.
Art – Clarke Peters
Clarke Peters, famous for playing Lester Freamon in The Wire and Albert Lambreaux in Treme, portrays Art. He is a soulful spiritual seeker and the heart of the group, working towards personal transformation.
Wally – Denis O’Hare
Denis O’Hare, who has appeared in Evil, American Horror Story, The Nevers, The Good Fight, and True Blood, plays Wally. A retired doctor who diffuses tension with humour as a defence mechanism.
Lily – Jane Kaczmarek
Jane Kaczmarek, best known as Lois from Malcolm in the Middle (earning three Golden Globe and seven Primetime Emmy nominations), appears as Sam’s late wife in flashbacks. She is someone who appreciated the small things in life.
Anneliese – Alice Kremelberg
Alice Kremelberg, remembered for roles in Quantum Leap, Renegade Nell, and The Sinner, plays Anneliese. She works at The Boroughs and is described as elegant, composed, and quietly terrifying.
Blaine – Seth Numrich
Seth Numrich, known for Under the Banner of Heaven, Homeland, The Blacklist, and Turn: Washington’s Spies, plays Blaine. He is the charismatic CEO of The Boroughs, working hard to maintain the illusion of paradise.
