Netflix has announced that the second season of its ranching drama Ransom Canyon will premiere on Thursday, 23 July. The upcoming season will consist of eight episodes, fewer than the first season's ten.
Series star Josh Duhamel teased what fans can expect, telling Variety: "Some stuff has happened since we last left. Minka Kelly’s character, Quinn, went off to New York. A lot has happened at the ranch and a lot has happened in New York. You’ll see when she comes back."
New cast members joining season two include Patricia Clarkson as Quinn’s mother Claire O’Grady, Steve Howey as Staten’s half-brother Levi, Heidi Engerman as Yancy Grey’s mysterious wife, and Ben Robson. However, James Brolin's Cap Fuller will not return after his character's death, and Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner will no longer be series regulars.
Showrunner April Blair confirmed that Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly will remain the central stars if the series continues, unlike the anthology approach of the original book series. The official synopsis reveals that season two picks up six months after the first, with Staten fighting to reclaim his legacy and Quinn deciding between small-town life and New York.
