A new crime drama from the creator of 'Power' has shot to number two on Netflix's UK top 10 chart, just days after its release. 'Nemesis', created by Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole, has divided critics and audiences, with a Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 90 percent but an audience score of only 49 percent.
The eight-part series follows two rivals from opposite sides of the law: LAPD Lieutenant Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law) and career criminal Coltrane Wilder (Y'lan Noel). A daring heist in Los Angeles reopens old wounds, setting the stage for a tense confrontation.
Despite the low audience rating, the show has developed a devoted following. One Rotten Tomatoes user wrote: 'Kept me engaged and not sure whose side I was on. Binge watched twice. I need season 2.' Another called it a 'masterpiece' on IMDb, praising the 'rollercoaster' and 'cliffhangers'.
Netflix has not yet announced a second season, but co-creator Marole told Decider that he and Kemp 'have an arc in mind' for a continuation. He urged viewers to boost the show's numbers, saying: 'We need the numbers to go up so we can get a renewal.'
