Martin Short was seen on set of the upcoming season of Only Murders In The Building in London this week alongside his castmates Selena Gomez and Steve Martin.

Filming on Portobello Road

The 76-year-old actor, who recently addressed his daughter's tragic death publicly for the first time, filmed scenes on the iconic Portobello Road in the Notting Hill neighborhood on Wednesday. It comes nearly three months after Short's daughter Katherine died at age 42 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The comedian donned a pair of navy trousers as well as a matching vest and blue coat layered on top. The Father Of The Bride star wore a striped purple shirt underneath while a patterned scarf was draped around his neck.

Short was seen conversing with Gomez as they strolled down Portobello Road and at one point, they were also joined by Martin.

Cast and Cameos

The former Disney channel actress was chic in a pin-striped blazer as well as matching trousers. Gomez additionally wore a colorful shirt underneath and slipped into a pair of burgundy heels. For a final touch, she opted for a tan trench coat.

The star's brunette locks were parted in the middle and flowed down in light waves to brush her shoulders. She accessorized the outfit with a pair of dangly earrings and carried a dark brown, cross-body bag over her shoulder.

Martin was also spotted on set in dark navy trousers as well as a light blue button up and a plaid suit jacket. The trio could be seen in the Notting Hill area of London as they filmed scenes for the forthcoming sixth season of the Hulu series.

At one point, Sir Derek George Jacobi was also seen on set while making a cameo in the show. During another moment, Short walked alongside Gomez as she pulled a small suitcase behind her down Portobello Road.

Show's Success

Only Murders In The Building first began airing in 2021 and has received positive reception from fans as well as critics. The show has also garnered a number of award nominations over the years such as an Emmy nod for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Short's Grief and Public Statement

Short's appearance on set of the series comes three months after his daughter Katherine's tragic death at age 42 in February. She had been found dead inside her Hollywood Hills home after authorities responded to the residence. Days later, her Los Angeles County Department of Public Health death certificate confirmed that she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The document additionally noted that Short's daughter had been cremated.

Earlier this month, the actor publicly addressed Katherine's passing for the first time during an interview with CBS Sunday Mornings. He made comparisons between his daughter's mental health battle and late wife Nancy Dolman's own battle with ovarian cancer. She passed away in 2010 from the disease.

'The understanding is that mental health and cancer, like my wife's, are both diseases, and sometimes with diseases they are terminal,' the actor said. 'My daughter fought for a long time with extreme mental health, borderline personality disorder, other things, and did the best she could until she couldn't.'

Short added that he wanted to bring understanding to mental health alongside an emotional message. 'Not being ashamed of it, not hiding from the word suicide, but accepting that this can be the last stage of an illness - and that's my approach to this,' he stated.

The star also voiced his support for the mental health awareness organization Bringchange2mind which was founded by actress Glenn Close.

Previous Tragedies

Short later got candid about how he approaches grief after facing other personal tragedies in the past. His brother died in a car accident when he was 12-years-old. When he was a teen, he also lost both of his parents. 'What it developed in me was this muscle of survival and handling grief and a perspective on it.'

The actor continued, 'We have to celebrate... Just to think of them, they've just gone into the next room for a while.'

Support from Friends

Following his daughter's death, Short was comforted by close friends such as Steven Spielberg, Kurt Russell and Eugene Levy. Steve Martin and Meryl Streep were also said to have supported Short amid the heartbreaking loss.

The comedian married Dolman in 1980 and the pair adopted three children: Katherine, Oliver Patrick, 39, and Henry Hayter, 36.

A source previously told the Daily Mail that Short had been 'inconsolable' after his daughter's tragic death. 'This is as much of a horror to Martin and his sons, her brothers, as humanly possible. For someone who brings so much joy to so many, who is always trying to lift others up and make them laugh, this loss has completely shattered him.' The insider added, 'He is gutted, and as you would expect, his closest friends are surrounding him with love and support.'

Along with filming the new season of Only Murders In The Building, the comedian also released his Netflix documentary Marty, Life Is Short on May 12.
