Australian comedian Sam Campbell, known for his stint on Prime Video's Last One Laughing, is set to return to UK screens with his new Channel 4 comedy series, Make That Movie. The six-part show follows a director named Sam who attempts to create feature films based on the bizarre ideas of everyday people, filming each movie in just three days.
The series is scripted, though Campbell plays a version of himself. The cast includes Lara Ricote as runner Jess, Helen Bauer as sound engineer Pat, Aaron Chen as intimacy coordinator Sebastian, and David Hargreaves as cinematographer Winnie. The show is directed and co-written by Joe Pelling, known for the puppet series Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.
Make That Movie will premiere on Channel 4 on Thursday, May 28 at 10pm, with the second episode airing immediately after at 10.30pm. Campbell announced the release date on social media, writing: 'This show is on channel 4. 28th of May ~ so pretty soon in fact. We hope it wets so many people’s whistles.'
Fans have reacted enthusiastically, with one commenting: 'I don’t understand any of this but that’s okay, I trust Sam,' referencing his surreal comedy style. Another joked: 'Nathan Fielder has been real quite since this dropped.' The series promises a unique blend of absurdity and heartfelt creativity.
