Anna Yuan, a fan favourite from the early episodes of Love Is Blind season nine, made a surprising exit from the dating experiment. The 28-year-old abruptly left the show after forming connections with two men, Patrick Suzuki and Blake Anderson, but chose not to say goodbye to either of them.
During her time in the pods, Anna bonded with Patrick, a 31-year-old construction manager, over their shared Asian heritage and experiences of dating outside their race. Patrick described their connection as 'electric' and was ready to become exclusive. She also connected with Blake, a 34-year-old accountant, whom she found 'genuine' and aligned with her long-term goals.
However, at the start of episode three, producers quietly announced Anna's departure. She stood both men up, leaving Patrick waiting in an empty pod. Speaking to Netflix's Tudum, Anna explained that the intensity of the show overwhelmed her. 'I started seeing myself being pretty vulnerable, and it scared me a little bit because this is an intimate part of my brain,' she said.
Anna also struggled with how to explain the experiment to her parents, worrying about its impact on them. 'When I told them, 'Hey, Mom and Dad, I'm going on this show, they're going to take my phone,' they were like, 'Are you being kidnapped?'' she recalled.
Despite fans hoping for a reconciliation, Anna stands by her decision. 'I don't think I regret leaving it because I don't think the connections were strong enough to have a successful marriage from there,' she told Tudum.
