Lorraine Kelly replaced on ITV show as mum returns home

Lorraine Kelly was absent from her ITV talk show on Monday morning (October 19), with Loose Women star Christine Lampard stepping in as host. Kelly later issued a family update from home, revealing her 85-year-old mother, Anne, had been discharged from hospital.

Christine Lampard Steps In as Stand-In Host

Christine Lampard opened the programme and quickly addressed the line-up change, explaining that she would be covering for Lorraine for most of this week. Lorraine is expected to return to her usual role on Friday (October 23).

Kelly's mother was reportedly rushed to hospital last month after suffering a fall. In an emotional Instagram post, Kelly shared a photograph of her mum and wrote: "Mum getting home! Great news and huge thanks to all at Hairmyres hospital for making it happen."

Support From Fans and Colleagues

Kelly added: "Thanks also to friends family and fabulous neighbours who have been incredible and so helpful - and to all of you for your good wishes - much appreciated."

The update drew a wave of supportive comments from well-wishers, including fans and colleagues. One person wrote: "Brilliant news. Send her my love xx" followed by a heart emoji. Another replied: "This has made me so happy. A beautiful mum, and a fighter. Sending love and a big hug to you both." A third commented: "Glad your mum is feeling better and getting home."

Technical Issues on STV Addressed

Minutes into the programme, Christine was forced to apologise to viewers in Lorraine's native Scotland after they apparently suffered technical issues. Returning after the first commercial break, she said: "Apologies to viewers watching on STV, apparently there were some issues in the first part but you are back with us now."

Showbiz correspondent Ross King joked that it was his relatives in Scotland who had possibly caused the channel to crash. Lorraine continues tomorrow at 9.30am on ITV1, STV and ITVX.
