Kelly Reilly, the British actress best known for her role as Beth Dutton in the hit US series Yellowstone, has seen her career skyrocket since the show's debut. Born Jessica Kelly Siobhán Reilly in Chessington, London, she shortened her name professionally. The 45-year-old attended Tolworth Girls' School in Kingston, where she studied drama at GCSE level. Her mother worked as a hospital receptionist and her father was a police officer.
Reilly's first television role came in 1995 with a small part in Prime Suspect 4: Inner Circle, opposite Helen Mirren. She secured the role after writing a letter to perform a monologue at an actor's showcase, which was attended by the show's casting director. She later built a reputation in theatre, working with director Terry Johnson on several productions. In 2004, at age 26, she received a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award nomination for her role in After Miss Julie at the Donmar Warehouse, making her the youngest actor to be nominated for that award.
Her first leading film role was in the 2008 horror film Eden Lake, alongside Michael Fassbender, for which she earned a Best Actress nomination at the British Independent Film Awards. She then appeared in the 2009 film Sherlock Holmes and its 2011 sequel, playing Mary Watson. On British television, she starred in the series Above Suspicion as a rookie detective.
Reilly is notoriously private about her personal life. She now stars in Yellowstone, a neo-Western drama that has become one of America's most-watched shows. Her character, Beth Dutton, is a manipulative and emotionally unstable financier who is fiercely protective of her father, John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, and her husband, Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser. The show's fifth series airs weekly.
