Jordan North, the star of Capital FM's Breakfast Show, has revealed a mortifying encounter with Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher. The radio presenter, known for his Northern charm, found himself red-faced after making an unusual comment to the jet-lagged star.
Speaking to the Mirror, Jordan recalled the awkward moment: "I saw Ashton Kutcher, and he was very jet-lagged. He had his sunglasses on and showed me his eyes. I said, 'They're like p**sholes in the snow.' I don't know if it's because he didn't understand the Northern twang or he was genuinely offended." Despite the hesitation, Jordan emphasized the importance of authenticity on air, as listeners can detect insincerity.
Life on the Breakfast Show
Jordan, alongside Chris Stark and Sian Welby, wakes up millions daily with their banter. He admitted that adjusting to the early hours is challenging: "Some weeks are better than others. Some weeks you're just shattered, and you get used to it." The trio relies on "plenty of coffee" to get through the day. Jordan added, "At the end of the day, we're not digging up roads. We're just having a laugh with our mates on the show. But we don't just fart out a radio show; we think really hard about it."
Overcoming Stage Fright
Despite his radio success, Jordan still battles stage fright. He credited his participation in I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! during the Wales year as the "best thing" he ever did, helping him break out of his comfort zone. "You've just got to do it. It makes you a stronger person," he advised. "The best way to prepare for failure is to over-prepare. When I get on stage, I make sure I know what I'm doing."
Soccer Aid Debut
This year, Jordan is making his debut for Soccer Aid for UNICEF, an event that pits celebrities and former pros against each other. He admitted feeling nervous: "I can do telly and radio fine, but I get stage fright really bad. This is going to be a big test for me personally." His game plan? "Do as I'm told, listen to the coach, Wayne Rooney, Jill Scott—get in line."
Jordan's dream teammate would be David Beckham: "I grew up watching him. He was one of England's best players." However, he is thrilled to play with Rooney, England's top goal scorer. He also joked about facing Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (Nitro): "Absolute beast—built like a brick house. I'm a bit worried I might get squashed."
Soccer Aid for UNICEF takes place on Sunday, 31st May, at the London Stadium. Adult tickets start from £20, and juniors from £10. Jordan praised the event's affordability and its competitive spirit: "Whoever you support, when you come down, you'll be fully behind your team. It's like the World Cup—even if you're not the biggest soccer fan, you get into it."
