Joe Lycett, who was banished from Celebrity Traitors on Friday night (October 16), is set to appear in Channel 4's Gogglebox Stand Up To Cancer special this Friday (October 23). The 38-year-old comedian has been announced as the first celebrity to join the special, and he will be joined by his aunties, Pauline and Margaret.
First celebrity confirmed for Gogglebox special
The trio shared a clip on the sofa as they settled in to begin filming for the Channel 4 show. Joe commented: "We are thrilled to join the Gogglebox special supporting Stand Up To Cancer. What are we doing?" His aunties told people they were "watching a lot of TV and eating chocolate" before Joe shared they couldn't wait to see them all on Friday.
Sharing the announcement on Instagram, it wasn't long before people commented on the post, thrilled by the news that Joe and his aunties were going to be part of the Gogglebox special. One person said: "Exquisite choice." Another person commented: "Brilliant, can't wait." Someone else shared: "These should be good!" While a fourth wrote: "They are great fun, your aunties."
Traitors exit and reflections
The announcement of Joe joining the Gogglebox line-up comes days after his time in the Scottish castle came to an end after he was banished by the group. It comes after he made it well-known to the group that he wanted to get recruited by the Traitors, which was ultimately his downfall.
Admitting he was 'disappointed' at not becoming a Traitor, stating it was his 'dream', he went on to speak about his experience on the BBC programme. He commented: "It was beyond what I was expecting. It was so much more immersive, and I cared so much more about it than I thought I would.
"Obviously, when you watch the show, and people really get into it, and they start crying, you think get over yourselves, it's just a game. But when you're in it, it is your whole life.
"And because I love the show, it was everything I wanted it to be, it was so much fun playing the game, and obviously very frustrating when you didn't find the Traitors. But I was fortunate enough to find two Traitors in my tenure and that's amazing."
Gogglebox for Stand Up to Cancer airs Friday, October 23 on Channel 4 from 9pm.
