Absolutely Fabulous Reunion? Joanna Lumley Drops Major Hint About Patsy Return
Joanna Lumley hints at Absolutely Fabulous return

British national treasure Joanna Lumley has sent Absolutely Fabulous fans into a frenzy after dropping tantalising hints about a potential return for the iconic comedy series.

Patsy and Edina Could Be Back

The 78-year-old actress, who memorably portrayed the chain-smoking, champagne-swilling fashion editor Patsy Stone, revealed that she's been in discussions with creator and co-star Jennifer Saunders about reviving their beloved characters.

"We talk about it all the time," Lumley confessed during a recent interview, sparking excitement among the show's dedicated fanbase. "We never say 'never' to anything."

A Comedy Legacy

Absolutely Fabulous originally ran from 1992 to 2012, becoming one of Britain's most cherished sitcoms and achieving international acclaim. The series followed the outrageous adventures of PR agent Edina Monsoon (Saunders) and her fashion magazine editor best friend Patsy, with their hedonistic lifestyle constantly clashing with Edina's sensible daughter Saffron.

The show's 2016 film adaptation saw the duo fleeing to the French Riviera after Patsy accidentally knocks Kate Moss into the Thames during a fashion party.

What Could a Revival Look Like?

While Lumley remained coy about specific details, she expressed enthusiasm about exploring how the characters would navigate today's world. "The world has changed so much since we last saw them," she noted, suggesting plenty of fresh comedic territory to explore.

The actress emphasised that any revival would need to meet the high standards set by the original series, stating they would only return if they could "do it properly" and maintain the quality that made the show so beloved.

With both Lumley and Saunders apparently keen on the idea, and the original cast members including Julia Sawalha and Jane Horrocks potentially available, the pieces seem to be falling into place for what could be one of British television's most anticipated comedy returns.
