Jensen Ackles has expressed his disappointment after Amazon Prime Video cancelled his series Countdown following its first season. The actor, best known for his role in Supernatural, shared a video on Instagram addressing the news.
In the video, Ackles said: 'As some of you may have seen already, Countdown did not get picked up for another season. Amazon's gonna let it go, and it's a bummer because I had such an amazing time making that show. Had an absolute blast with the cast and the crew.' He thanked Amazon for the opportunity and praised the executives, writers and creators.
Ackles acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the industry, stating: 'Sometimes you can set out to do your best and check all those boxes, and ultimately it's out of your hands. That's the way it goes in this industry.' He added that he was 'thankful for the experience' and hinted at future projects.
His former Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki responded to the post, writing: 'Their loss brother. You were amazing in it. Which is no surprise to ANYBODY. I'll still be re-watching. And I can't wait to see what you do next.'
Deadline earlier reported that Prime Video had decided not to proceed with Countdown and Butterfly after one season each. The cancellation was unexpected, as Countdown had remained in the US Top 10 on Prime Video, currently at number 10, more than a month after its season finale.
