Tommy O'Brien has been cast in the NBC drama pilot 'Protection', joining previously announced stars Peter Krause and Hope Davis. O'Brien is known for his roles in 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' and 'Grown-ish'.
The pilot, created by Josh Safran ('Quantico', 'Gossip Girl'), follows a family of law enforcement agents who become the target of a mysterious assassin after a US marshal is killed in the line of duty. The Thornhill family must use their expertise to protect one another and bring the killer to justice.
O'Brien will play Micah Thornhill, a Secret Service agent who uses his charm as a superpower. Krause plays Mike Thornhill, and Davis plays Joan, a federally appointed US marshal.
Jenna Bush Hager executive produces alongside Safran and Ben Spector. The project falls under Bush Hager's first-look deal with Universal Studio Group for her Thousand Voices production company. Rebecca Thomas will direct and executive produce the pilot.
