Jasmine Harman: Husband 'could have died' after heart attack

A Place in the Sun presenter Jasmine Harman has spoken about the moment her husband Jon Boast fell ill with a heart attack while the couple were renovating their Spanish home for a television series. The Channel 4 star recalled calling an ambulance after Jon began feeling unwell, and admitted she had worried he could have died.

Heart attack during renovation

Jasmine married Jon in 2009 and the couple have two children. In November 2025, she revealed that he had suffered an unexpected heart attack while they were renovating their Spanish property for a television series. During an episode of Renovation in the Sun, building work ground to a halt when Jon, then 45, was filmed being rushed to hospital after falling ill. Doctors told him he had suffered a heart attack. He was already aware that heart conditions were hereditary in his family. His sister Jo died unexpectedly in 2016, aged 40, from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.

Recovery and reflection

Jasmine opened up to the Mirror in 2025 about her husband's recovery: "Jon is fine now and he is back working. I know this sounds strange, but even with the background of what could have happened and worrying he could have died. It makes you feel lucky he just had a mild heart attack and everything is fine. But the challenges life throws at you has made me take things in my stride a lot better than I used to."

Recalling the moment Jon began feeling unwell, Jasmine said: "We'd just had lunch and he said he started to feel funny and strange. He went to lie down but he then started to get very agitated and said there was a tightening in his chest. He was having a bit of trouble breathing and everything that was touching him was annoying him. I immediately called the ambulance as soon as he said he felt funny."

Family background and hoarding

As for her wider family, Jasmine and her mother, Vasoulla, have spoken openly about Vasoulla's hoarding. In August 2011, they appeared in the BBC documentary My Hoarder Mum and Me. During the programme, Jasmine and her siblings rallied around their mother, clearing more than 30 years' worth of clutter so that Jasmine's 12-year-old brother could return home. Vasoulla, who lived alone in a five-bedroom London property, had amassed mountains of old clothing, bags of toys and broken kitchen appliances. Her bedroom had become inaccessible, forcing her to clear a spot on the floor of another room to sleep.

Speaking on This Morning in 2023, Jasmine reflected: "When I started working in television, it was my biggest fear that someone would find out about the way I'd grown up and the way that we lived at the time." She said her focus was now on "having a loving relationship" with her mother rather than "focussing on the hoarding". Speaking about her mother, Jasmine added: "She's helped me to become a much more compassionate person. We used to fight, didn't we? But now we have a relationship that's outside [of the hoarding]."

Siblings and social media

Jasmine is the eldest of seven children, with two half-siblings on her father's side and one on her mother's side. In 2021, she marked National Siblings Day by sharing a rare social media post featuring all six of her siblings. The photograph showed the family lined up during a sunny garden get-together before the coronavirus lockdown. She wrote on Instagram: "Me and my siblings in age order starting with the youngest," adding: "Yes, I'm the eldest of 7! Love you all and can't wait until we can all get together again!" She tagged her siblings Jim, Cameron, Madeline, Maria, Andrew and Johnny in the post.

A Place in the Sun's new season airs on Channel 4 on weekdays at 6pm.
