James Blunt asks BBC staff to buy him extra pants on Celebrity Traitors
James Blunt asks BBC staff to buy him extra pants

James Blunt reportedly ran out of underwear while filming Celebrity Traitors at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands and asked BBC production staff to buy him more pairs.

The 52-year-old singer, known for "You're Beautiful," was taking part in Claudia Winkleman's game show, which is believed to take 16 to 18 days to film a full series. A source said: "He kindly asked if a member of production could buy him some and was quite particular about what he wanted."

Production Staff Happy to Help

Despite the competitive nature of the show, producers reportedly accommodated Blunt's request. "James is a true gent, and production staff were more than happy to help," an insider told The Sun.

The underwear incident follows reports that Blunt was reprimanded by BBC bosses for using a Traitors image to promote a flashy suit. He was told to delete a post promoting a £1,695 outfit he wore during the show, linking to the brand.

A spokesperson for the BBC told Metro: "The BBC has clear guidelines in place around commercial activity which we take very seriously, and players have been reminded of this. The social media posts referred to have been taken down."

Wife Signed Him Up

Speaking about his time on the programme, in which he is a Faithful, Blunt revealed his wife, Sofia, whom he married in 2014, got him involved. He told The One Show: "I haven't watched much TV, and I found out from my wife that I was on Celebrity Traitors – she signed me up for it."

He added that he was "given a speed-watch of the whole thing" before going in.

Blunt's military background has proved useful during missions, as he has taken charge of the group and gone into "full Army captain mode," barking orders and implementing strategies to bank money for the prize pot.

Wrong Theories and Social Media Banter

Despite his physical prowess, Blunt has been mocked on social media for his consistently wrong theories, despite quipping that watching him in the castle must have been like "watching Sherlock at work."

He pointed the finger at Corrie's Julie Hesmondhalgh, leading to her banishment, and declared content creator Kenny one of "the most innocent" players, backing the trio to be granted a mystery power. After Kenny was issued The Dagger, granting him a double vote at the roundtable, Blunt said: "It's in the right hands."

He has also been fixating on actress Sharon Rooney's behaviour, voting for her to be banished, leading to her suspecting him in return.

Blunt takes the mocking in his stride and joins in the banter after each episode. "Nailed it," he tweeted after spouting more wrong theories, and started a series named Blunt Theories, where he posts clips of scenes where he gets things wrong.

The BBC declined to comment. The Celebrity Traitors continues next Thursday at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
