James Acaster has said he was "glad" to be banished from the Celebrity Traitors castle "in the nick of time", after admitting he was a Traitor during the penultimate episode of the BBC show.
The comedian left the castle during episode nine of this year's series, believing it was the right time for him to go and leaving fellow Traitors Kenny and Maya to take on the finale episode.
James admits he is a Traitor
During a tense roundtable on Thursday's episode, James broke his facade and told his co-stars he was responsible for murdering Ross Kemp in plain sight earlier in the series.
He told the remaining players: "I just want to explain my situation, I was made a Traitor. I don't want to say 'it's me vote for me', but it's all I can do really."
Fans were shocked by the admission, with many suggesting he had "ruined the game". On X, one fan said: "What the hell has just happened." A second wrote: "This is sooo painful" while another said: "James Acaster broke. Wow." More added to the conversation online: "I can't believe he just did this.....", "JAMES ACASTER WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!!!!!!!!" and "WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!"
It came as no surprise that James was voted out at the roundtable, leaving behind fellow Traitors Kenny and Maya.
James speaks on Uncloaked
Appearing on the spin-off programme Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked shortly after leaving the castle, James was interviewed by host Ed Gamble. He was proud to get to episode nine before being banished, but felt it came at the right time.
He said: "They banished me, just in the nick of time. Episode nine, not bad. And, now we've got a proper final on our hands."
He added: "Don't get me wrong I though it would be hilarious at one point that we [Traitors] were going to walk ourselves straight through to the final and win the whole thing. But this is much better isn't it.
"That last roundtable, I went in thinking I've got no heat on me whatsoever. It was sprung on me, it was a surprise so that was a shocker. But I was glad they caught me."
Who will win?
Asked if Kenny and Maya could win the show, James said: "I don't know, I believe in them, I've got a lot of faith in them, they're excellent Traitors. But I think everyone is going to be looking at them."
He instead suggested the Faithfuls could win the game, telling host Ed Gamble: "James Blunt is ferocious in this game. He's possessed, he's not going to let them get away. If I was to predict I'd say the people who win are Romesh, Bash and James Blunt."
The final of Celebrity Traitors airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
