ITVX true crime doc My Killer Father shocks viewers

ITVX viewers have been left "shocked to their core" by a true crime documentary that has gripped audiences since its release. The three-part programme, My Killer Father: The Green Hollow Murders, follows the investigation into Donald Studey, from Iowa, US, who has been called the Monster of Green Hollow after his daughter claimed she knew the whereabouts of dozens of bodies following alleged decades of murders.

A Daughter's Claim

The documentary, available on both ITVX and Paramount+, carries several warnings, including "strong language, distressing scenes, real crime and suicide." It centres on a small quiet town where residents had long spoken of an alleged serial killer known as the Green Hollow Monster.

In the programme, a woman comes forward saying that her father is this alleged serial killer and that he did not just kill three of his wives, but that he killed nearly 100 people. She explains that her father made her and her sister dispose of some of these bodies.

Viewer Reactions

EccyReviews, who watches and critiques films and television programmes on social media, urged viewers to tune in, saying: "You're going to be running to your screen tonight to go and watch this documentary."

"You will not be able to take your eyes off the screen watching. But the craziest thing is about it is that people don't believe her. This documentary goes into whether what she is saying is true or not. So make sure you add this documentary to your watchlist right now because it is absolutely gripping."

Audiences Divided

Audiences have remained divided following the programme's release, with one viewer commenting: "Just watched it and it was frustrating. I believe her father did terrible things but there should've been some evidence."

A second said: "I feel for this woman I hope she finally gets the answers and finds where they were all buried." While a third added: "I watched it already and I'd be digging up the entire mountain."
