ITV has removed two of its flagship daytime shows, Lorraine and Loose Women, from the air as part of a major schedule shake-up driven by budget cuts. The programmes will now run on a seasonal basis, with episodes reduced from an hour to just 30 minutes.
Loose Women aired its last episode on Friday 6 March, with presenter Kaye Adams confirming the show would be off air for some time. The panel show, which previously ran year-round, will now broadcast for only 30 weeks a year, effectively losing over 70 per cent of its previous airtime. Lorraine is undergoing the same treatment, also switching to a 30-week seasonal schedule with shorter episodes.
Both shows are currently on a scheduled break, with Lorraine expected to return in April and Loose Women next month. No exact return dates have been confirmed. The changes follow a statement from ITV's managing director Kevin Lygo in May 2025, who said the cuts would 'generate savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres'.
Coleen Nolan, a panellist on Loose Women, described the changes as 'heartbreaking' for crew members facing uncertainty. Lorraine Kelly addressed viewers on Instagram, thanking them for their support and confirming she would be off air for 'a good few weeks' due to the reduced schedule.
As part of the reshuffle, Good Morning Britain has been extended by 30 minutes, now running until 9:30am daily, and until 10am when Lorraine is not on air.
