Joe Thomas, the actor who brought the wonderfully awkward Simon Cooper to life in the iconic British comedy The Inbetweeners, has finally broken his silence about the possibility of a reboot - and his verdict might disappoint hopeful fans.
The Honest Truth About Returning to Sixth Form
In an exclusive interview, Thomas revealed that while the cast remain close friends, the magic combination that made the original series so special would be incredibly difficult to recapture. "There's something about that time in your life," Thomas explained, "that period of sixth form, that specific teenage angst that just wouldn't work with us now."
Why A Reboot Might Never Happen
The actor, now 40, pointed to several crucial factors that make a revival unlikely:
- Age gap: The cast are now twenty years older than their characters
- Timing: The original captured a perfect moment in British youth culture
- Legacy: Risking the show's near-perfect reputation isn't worth it
- Authenticity: The humour was rooted in genuine teenage experiences
