Helena Christensen turned heads at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival by wearing a daring black lace dress that appears to break the event's strict dress code. The former supermodel attended the screening of Amarga Navidad in a sheer gown featuring velvet bra cups, intricate lace embroidery, and an elegant backless design with criss-cross straps.
The dress, covered in opaque lace panels that exposed her skin and created a ruffled skirt, seemingly violates Cannes' rules prohibiting nudity on the red carpet. The festival's dress code states: 'For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the Red Carpet, as well as in any other area of the Festival.'
Christensen accessorised with open-toe pumps and dainty silver jewellery, wearing her brunette locks in soft waves with smoky eye makeup and glossy lips. The festival's regulations also ban voluminous dresses and long trains, which 'hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theatre.'
This is not the first time Christensen has made a statement at Cannes. In 2023, she wore a white custom strapless Christian Dior gown previously worn by Rihanna in 2017. A year later, she chose a bespoke white Vivienne Westwood gown with a signature corset bodice and flowing cape.
