Chris Butland-Steed, a long-standing cast member of Channel 4's Gogglebox, has announced he is leaving the show after 10 series. The Brighton hairdresser, who appeared alongside ex-partner Stephen Webb since 2013, said he hopes to pursue a career in television.
In a tweet, Butland-Steed stated: 'After 10 series, a wedding, and a helluva lot of takeaways, our lovely dogs and I have decided it's time to say a very fond farewell to our Gogglebox family.' He added that since his wedding, it felt like a new start was needed, prompting him to explore other opportunities.
Butland-Steed joins a list of former Gogglebox cast members who have moved on to other TV roles. Scarlett Moffatt, who left in 2016, went on to win I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and later appeared on This Morning and Saturday Night Takeaway. Steph and Dom Parker also left that year to host their own Channel 4 series, One Star to Five Star.
Other notable exits include Sandi Bogle, who pursued singing before joining Celebrity Big Brother, and Reverend Kate Bottley, who now presents on Radio 2 and BBC One's Songs of Praise while still appearing on Gogglebox.
