Gogglebox Axes Fan Favourites In Major Cast Shake Up

Gogglebox fans were left divided after the hit Channel 4 show returned for its 26th series on Friday night, featuring a major cast shake-up. The programme, which sees families and friends comment on the week's television, has introduced five new households while confirming the departure of Scottish couple Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle, who were not invited back.

The new additions include pals Jake, 27, and Calum, 31, from Glasgow, and sisters Rosie, 68, and Susie, 70, from Edinburgh. Also joining are 87-year-old Sara from Yorkshire, who becomes the show's oldest star, alongside her daughter-in-law Lara, 58; the Gordons from Surrey, comprising parents Andre, 49, and Sarah, 47, and their daughter Chee, 25; and married couple Andrew, 62, and Alfie, 32, from the Cotswolds.

Viewers took to social media to express mixed reactions. One fan asked: 'Who are all these new people??!!!' while another commented: 'I'm never more judgmental than when a new family appears on #gogglebox.' Others were more welcoming, with one saying: 'A few new families by the looks of it - about time!'

An insider told the Mirror that the changes were designed to 'inject a bit of freshness' into the long-running show, which has been a staple on Channel 4 for 13 years. Mike Cotton, creative director for production company Studio Lambert, said it was 'a delight' to welcome the new households and that they look forward to hearing their candid thoughts on the week's most talked-about TV.

The new cast members join returning favourites including Jenny and Lee, the Siddiqui family, the Malone family, Giles and Mary, and many others. However, some original stars may feel at risk of being replaced if the newcomers prove popular.
