Fans think Ed Gamble was the scarecrow in Celebrity Traitors cameo

Fans of Celebrity Traitors are convinced that Ed Gamble appeared in disguise during last night's episode, with many believing the comedian was hidden beneath a scarecrow costume.

The 40-year-old comedian and host of Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked previously made a cameo in last year's series, buried under a hood while dragging Joe Marler out of a car during a mission. That appearance led to speculation that he might return for the second series.

Viewers spot the scarecrow

Following the latest episode, viewers became convinced they had spotted this year's rumoured Ed Gamble cameo in the form of a scarecrow who appeared during the day's mission. The masked figure was given enough prominence that many believed Gamble was hiding beneath the hood.

Theories were shared on a Reddit thread, where viewers speculated on the mystery scarecrow's identity. One user, EmergencyEntrance28, wrote: 'So, we all agree that this season's secret Ed Gamble cameo was him dressed up as the walking scarecrow who delivered the dagger, right?'

Another user, redunculuspanda, said: 'I thought that was an odd scene and the scarecrow was milking it a bit. Think you could be right.' Inkedoll1 agreed, writing: 'Yep, I said the same.'

Dagger handed to James Acaster

Noting that the scarecrow appeared to share Ed Gamble's 'gait,' user kezolt described it as a 'big risk' to hand the game-changing dagger to Off Menu co-host James Acaster. Another user, boffbowsh, joked: 'Was also half expecting James to say "Hi Ed!"'

If Gamble was the scarecrow, his cameo will likely be revealed on the final episode of Uncloaked, as happened last year.

Miranda Hart eliminated

Elsewhere in the episode, comedian and actress Miranda Hart, 53, became the latest famous face to be eliminated by the Traitors. After learning her fate, she said: 'I've been able to get back and do the thing that I love professionally and do the things that I love personally. Like wandering around the Scottish Highlands and laughing and connecting. There were times that I didn't think that would be possible again.'

In 2024, Hart was diagnosed with ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis), also known as chronic fatigue syndrome, which led to an absence from screens following her 'total collapse' and being left bedbound for several years.

Traitors remain undetected

The three remaining Traitors – James Acaster, Maya Jama and King Kenny – appear no closer to being discovered. They were voted most trustworthy by the Faithful, unwittingly handing the Traitors a super-powered dagger that gives the holder two votes at the roundtable.

Of James Acaster's participation, Ed Gamble told Metro: 'I didn't know whether he would actually do it, and he tried to keep it secret from me for a long, long time, but, you know, I have my other sources. There was a fun couple of months where we were dancing around each other, and he was trying to avoid telling me that it was happening, but in the back of my mind, I knew. It's the most James Acaster thing ever.'

The Celebrity Traitors continues next Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
