Fans of The Celebrity Traitors are convinced they spotted a secret cameo from Ed Gamble, host of the spin-off show The Traitors: Uncloaked, hidden in plain sight during the latest episode.
The episode, which aired on October 23, saw the murder of Miranda Hart by the Traitors. Fellow Faithful Sharon Rooney drew suspicion after her co-stars accused her of behaving differently, believing she had been recruited. Rooney also acted erratically during the latest mission, where players ripped open scarecrows to find money bags, then hung the bags on scarecrows and blew them up, leaving three scarecrows standing with the names of three players who would receive a mystery power.
Faithfuls Choose the Traitors
The Faithfuls selected James Acaster, Maya Jama, and King Kenny—coincidentally the full Traitors line-up—as the most trustworthy recipients of the new power, later revealed as a double vote at the Round Table. Sharon was unhappy with the choices, receiving votes from suspicious co-stars, as did fellow Faithful Joanne McNally.
The vote ended in a tie, forcing a second round of votes. The result, and whether Sharon or Joanne is banished, will be revealed in the next episode airing on Thursday, October 29.
Scarecrow Cameo Theory
After the episode, fans speculated that a familiar star made a fleeting appearance. At the end of the mission, one scarecrow became animated and walked toward host Claudia Winkleman with a box containing the dagger granting the double vote. Claudia thanked the scarecrow before it walked off, with no further mention of the interaction.
Some viewers believe Ed Gamble was inside the costume. This wouldn't be the first time he played a secret role in the main programme; in last year's season, he appeared as a masked druid during a challenge, revealed only on his spin-off show.
Fan Reactions and Doubts
One fan claimed: "So, we all agree that this season's secret Ed Gamble cameo was him dressed up as the walking scarecrow who delivered the dagger, right?" A second agreed: "I thought that was an odd scene and the scarecrow was milking it a bit. Think you could be right." A third added: "I said that too! Had his gait. But I do think it would have been a big risk with James Acaster there."
Some fans remain unconvinced, noting no secret cameo has been teased this year. One sceptic wrote: "That’s what I said when I saw it but I’d have expected him to mention it on Uncloaked." Another suggested: "I'm not sure if it was Ed but there was certainly someone interesting in that outfit."
The Celebrity Traitors airs Thursdays and Fridays from 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
