Rob, the radio presenter evicted from the Big Brother house on Friday, has spoken out for the first time since his exit, denying claims that he sang "24/7" and responding to criticism over his table dancing.
The 25-year-old lost the public vote on October 16, facing Yasmin and Twinks in a close race. It was not the first time he had received the most nominations, with several housemates citing his constant singing as the reason. Lynx even suggested he should receive the killer nomination for the same reason, though it was ultimately given to Yasmin after a heated debate.
Rob's response on The Group Chat
Appearing on the Sunday night episode of Big Brother The Group Chat with hosts GK Barry and Kate Lawler, Rob was asked if he expected to leave. He admitted: "Honestly I could not call it. Either time I was up for eviction, I just had no clue which way it was going to go. You can not really judge anything that the outside world thinks. I was so happy that I made five weeks."
When the conversation turned to his singing, Rob said: "I did sing a lot. I'm not sure I necessarily sang 24/7 like has been represented from some people." He added: "I don't know. I'm not for everyone at the end of the day. And I guess it was just a bit much for some people but what can you do."
Reaction to table dancing
Asked about the backlash to his dancing on a table, Rob said: "They really were acting like I've killed their grandmothers at the end of the day. And then to find out that people genuinely had a dislike for me because of it, I was like 'what?' I thought it was a joke."
He explained: "That's why when it all kicked off in the garden I was like 'oh it's awful, lock me away' because I thought they were doing a bit, I really did. It is what it is at the end of the day and they didn't like the singing and that's fine."
Rob also revealed a connection he made with a fellow housemate, saying: "I had a lovely conversation with Omar about our cats. Because obviously, my cat is no longer with us and I feel like that was the most sensible conversation we had."
Fans show support
Fans have rallied behind Rob following his comments. One posted on Big Brother's Instagram account: "He didn't say one negative thing in the whole show. What a beautiful soul he is." Another wrote: "I actually feel so sorry for him. I would have 100% been his friend in there only one with a good heart and personality from what I've seen." A third added: "He was so authentic in there and didn't dim his light down for anyone. Good on him, great housemate."
Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
