There is welcome news for Channel 5 audiences as all three series of a compelling thriller have landed. Nearly a decade ago, the country was captivated when they witnessed Welsh star Eve Myles lead the BBC crime drama Keeping Faith.
The inaugural series, which commenced in 2018, charts the life of Faith Howells (Eve) whose existence is thrown into chaos when her husband and business partner Evan (portrayed by Bradley Freegard) abruptly disappears. Yet, as Faith attempts to locate him, matters take an unforeseen direction as she uncovers some startling revelations.
A synopsis for the opening series states: "As an increasingly desperate Faith searches for clues, she uncovers new revelations about Evan's private life and questions how well she really knows the man she loves."
The eight-part series garnered significant acclaim from audiences as the programme ran for an additional two series in 2019 and 2020. While Eve maintained her role as Faith, BBC audiences also witnessed the likes of Mark Lewis Jones, Celia Imrie and Matthew Gravelle join the ensemble, reports Wales Online.
Discussing the programme, one viewer remarked: "An absolute gem! Utterly brilliant from start to finish. Is it the finish?!!!! I want more. Eve is just mesmerising. She is such a great actress and so original. I believed every second of her portrayal of poor Mrs Howells. So very very glad she agreed to be in this role."
One viewer enthused: "It's compulsive, gripping, engaging viewing. The story is brilliant, and the eight-part format allows it to develop, and develop it does, the middle episodes are so different to the opener, with the final two parts even more dramatic and intriguing."
Another wrote: "Amazing. I absolutely loved this show, from the high calibre of actors and crew to the idyllic setting of Laugharne, this show's Wales at its best."
While a further fan declared: "Captivating. This an engrossing series that had me hooked. Eve Myles' tour de force performance transcends greatness and is truly captivating."
As the curtain came down on the final series, Eve penned a heartfelt message on BBC Wales, saying her goodbyes to devoted fans of the show. She said: "I'm going to miss the family of Keeping Faith, very, very much. I'm not going to miss the heels!" She went on to pay a warm tribute to several of her co-stars both on and off set, confessing she'll dearly miss working alongside her husband.
Eve continued: "The thing I'm going to miss the most is the excitement of making something for the amazing, amazing loyal fans that Keeping Faith has grown over three series. I think if Faith has had any lasting effect on me, it would be patience and never forget to have fun."
Keeping Faith is available to watch on Channel 5 and BBC iPlayer.
