The 77th Emmy Awards, held on Sunday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, saw Apple TV+ series Severance earn a record 27 nominations but fail to secure a win for its lead actor, Adam Scott, sparking outrage among fans.
Scott, known for his role in Parks and Recreation, plays dual versions of the character Mark Scout in the sci-fi drama. Despite his acclaimed performance, the award for lead actor in a drama series went to Noah Wyle for his role in HBO's The Pitt.
Viewers took to social media to express their dismay. One Reddit user lamented, 'If Adam Scott can't win off of that performance, he'll never win an Emmy.' Another added, 'Scott essentially played two different characters and made you root for them both.'
On X, a fan wrote, 'Justice for Adam Scott - man, he blew everyone out the water and this was such a snub.' Another called it 'the biggest snub' of the night, while one viewer admitted, 'Noah Wyle deserves it too, but I also think Adam Scott was phenomenal.'
Despite the snub, Severance still had reason to celebrate, winning eight awards from its 27 nominations, including lead actress for Britt Lower and supporting actor for Tramell Tillman.
