Emmerdale newcomer Paula Lane has addressed the possibility of serial killer Meena Jutla returning to the soap after a bombshell revelation. Lane, who plays Ella Forster, joined the ITV drama earlier this year and it was quickly revealed that her character harbours a dark secret.
Fans have speculated that Ella may be linked to Meena, played by Paige Sandhu, who is currently behind bars for the murders of Leanna Cavanagh, Ben Tucker and Andrea Tate. When Liam Cavanagh opened up about his daughter Leanna's murder, Ella's reaction raised suspicions. Additionally, it emerged that Ella had a friend who encouraged her to go into nursing—the same career as Meena. However, it was later revealed that Ella killed her best friend when she was a child.
Despite no current connection between the characters, Lane has not ruled out a future link. Speaking to Metro, she said: 'I enjoyed reading them to begin with just because I found them quite funny. Because obviously, there’s absolutely zero connection unless she’s come across her in prison. So you never know, them crossing paths could be a theory.'
Upcoming scenes will see Ella attack Wendy Posner after being pushed to breaking point. Ella wants a low-key birthday, which is also the anniversary of the day she killed her friend Joanne. However, Mandy Dingle insists on celebrating, taking before and after photos and posting them on social media without permission. Ella loses control, reminding Mandy of her criminal history. Later, Joanne's cousin Gary arrives, fuelling Ella's guilt. When Wendy tries to help, Ella attacks her, sparking fears that she has not changed.
