Emmerdale fans are speculating that newcomer Dave, who appears in next week's episodes, could have a secret family link to teenager Dylan Pender. A spoiler for the ITV soap confirms the new character knows Dylan, but viewers suspect there may be more to their connection than meets the eye.
Fan theories about Dave and Dylan
Some viewers are wondering whether Dave could be revealed as Dylan's father. Dylan's family has been mentioned before, with the teenager having lived on the streets. One fan posted on social media: "Is Dave going to be Dylan's dad or something?" The comment drew likes from others, while another theory suggested Dave is someone Dylan met while living on the streets.
Next week, village resident Liam Cavanagh returns after a night away, and his partner Chas Dingle accuses him of having an affair with Manpreet Sharma. She soon realises it was a murder mystery night and, upset at not being invited, decides to plan her own event. As Liam plays along, he answers the door to a man called Dave.
Dave's violent arrival
Dave ties Liam up and threatens him, but Liam believes it is all part of the game. It is only when Dylan heads to the house that it becomes clear Dave has been after him all along. Dylan is visibly terrified to see Dave, and as Dave reveals how they know each other, Liam realises he is in real danger.
Marlon and Chas Dingle arrive, and Dave knocks out Marlon. The situation worsens when Dave pulls out a gun and takes Chas outside, leaving viewers to wonder if they will all be safe.
Spoiler hints at the truth
The spoiler line reads: "Dave reveals Dylan ratted him out to the police." This suggests Dylan has wronged Dave, and Dave is back for revenge. It may confirm the theory that Dave is someone Dylan knew while homeless, possibly ruling out the father twist, though some fans may still hold onto that idea.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
