Emmerdale Star Sally Dexter Reflects on 'Upsetting' Exit as Faith Dingle

Emmerdale actress Sally Dexter has spoken about her emotional departure from the ITV soap, describing her exit as Faith Dingle as 'upsetting' but meaningful. The character died in October after a cancer storyline, which is now being revisited as her on-screen daughter Chas Dingle faces her own breast cancer diagnosis.

Dexter, who played Faith for several years, admitted she was deeply moved by the storyline and the response from viewers. 'I was upset by it. So I guess I didn't think about anyone else. But I knew it would mean something,' she told Express. She praised the soap's commitment to research and audience care.

The actress expressed gratitude that fans still talk about Faith's death over a year later. 'When people come up and say about it, I think 'I've been dead for over a year - how can you remember?' Because it's such a quick turnover of story in all of the soaps,' she said, adding that it was a 'privilege' to be part of the storyline.

Meanwhile, Chas actress Lucy Pargeter has insisted she has no plans to leave Emmerdale. 'I don't think I will ever make the decision to leave myself – they'll have to write me out, but even then they'd have to drag me out kicking and screaming,' she said.
