Real-life couple Jeff Hordley and Zoe Henry, known for their roles as Cain Dingle and Rhona Goskirk in the ITV soap, shared more Emmerdale scenes together this week. The pair, who have been married since 2003 and have two children called Violet and Stan, have worked together on the soap for 25 years, yet their first two-hander scene only aired earlier this year.
Rare Cain and Rhona scenes
Rhona, who is married to Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), often interacts with her husband's family and occasionally chats to Cain, but she rarely interacts with just him. That changed a few months ago when Cain was forced to say an emotional goodbye to family dog Monty.
After getting trapped in a shed fire started by Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn), Monty was rushed to the vets where Rhona works. Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) later revealed to the family that Monty had cancer. As the pup's health worsened, Cain took him to the vets to be put to sleep, leading to a two-hander scene between Jeff and Zoe, with Cain saying farewell to Monty as Rhona listened in the background.
Tom King warning
This week, Jeff and Zoe were involved in more scenes together as Rhona attempted to warn Cain about Tom King's (James Chase) release from prison. Having gone through a similar ordeal when she discovered Pierce Harris was up for parole, Rhona was on hand to support Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and told Cain that if Tom returns to the village, he could be more dangerous than ever.
Fans have welcomed the rare scenes. On X, Roscoe wrote: 'Always love a Cain/Rhona scene'. Penny said: 'I love it when we see Rhona and Cain together'. Another viewer commented: 'So unusual for @HordleyJeff Cain and Rhona to do any scenes together – must be strange for them'.

Zoe's character Rhona has had a quiet few months as her family moved forward following the deaths of drug dealers Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) and Ray Walters (Joe Absolom). The mother and son duo subjected Rhona's stepdaughter April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) to an ordeal involving drug dealing and older men. Celia was killed by Ray at the start of the year, while Ray was murdered by Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) not long after.
Jeff's alter-ego Cain has endured a dramatic first half of 2026. Amid Moira Dingle's (Natalie J Robb) wrongful accusation of double murder and people trafficking, Cain was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He had an operation a couple of months ago but has been told the cancer has spread and will need radiotherapy.
