The fifth season of Emily in Paris has concluded on Netflix, leaving protagonist Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) single after she chose her career in Paris over a relationship with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). The season finale saw Emily break up with Marcello after he was named head of his family business and asked her to move to his hometown.
Throughout the season, Emily's relationship with Marcello faced challenges as they clashed over business ventures. Meanwhile, her on-off boyfriend Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) revealed he was leaving his restaurant to work as a private chef on a yacht, prompting an emotional farewell between the pair. New character Jake (Bryan Greenberg) remained a fleeting friendship.
In the final episode, Emily and Marcello attended Venice Fashion Week, where Emily mistakenly believed Marcello was going to propose. The ring was actually for Nico (Paul Forman) to give to Mindy Chen (Ashley Park). Marcello's mother dropped a lawsuit against him and appointed him head of the family business, but his request for Emily to move with him led to their breakup.
Emily's boss Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) secured financial support from Princess Jane (Minnie Driver), ensuring Emily's job in Paris. Sylvie later informed Gabriel that Emily was single, leaving viewers wondering if he would return to Paris to pursue her. Mindy's engagement to Nico was complicated by lingering feelings for Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), who discovered the engagement.
The season paid tribute to assistant director Diego Borella, who died during filming in Venice. The series has not yet been renewed for a sixth season.
