Emmerdale Boss Kate Brooks Moves to Coronation Street in ITV Shake-Up

Kate Brooks has stepped down as producer of Emmerdale after six years to take on the same role at Coronation Street, ITV has confirmed. Brooks, who spent eight years on the Yorkshire-based soap, will begin her new role next month, succeeding Iain MacLeod who has been promoted to Executive Producer for Continuing Drama, overseeing both soaps.

Brooks expressed her gratitude for her time on Emmerdale, stating: "I've had a wonderful time working on Emmerdale and I feel immensely proud to be part of a team that has achieved such great success over the past eight years." She added that Corrie "has lit up my living room since I was a kid" and called the new role "the ultimate pinch me moment."

Iain MacLeod, who has led Coronation Street for several years, praised Brooks as "a fantastic storyteller" and said he is "genuinely excited to see what the next chapter holds." MacLeod's promotion to Executive Producer was announced earlier this year, and he described the opportunity to lead both soaps as "a massive thrill and a privilege."

The move comes months after Emmerdale's executive producer Jane Hudson left her role after five years. Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX, while Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
