EastEnders: Lee Carter's lies exposed as Linda finds vodka

Lee Carter's lies have finally been exposed in EastEnders, with Linda making a devastating discovery about his drinking. The truth came out after Lee returned to Albert Square with Linda, following their attempt to track down his partner Jess.

Lee has been expecting a baby with Jess, with his sister Nancy Carter acting as surrogate. Linda was initially furious to learn that Jess had seemingly walked out on Lee, but the reality was very different.

Jess reveals the truth about Lee

In tonight's episode, Linda and Lee returned to Albert Square only to find Jess already at Peacock's Palace. As Jess told her side of the story, it became clear that Lee had been lying about Jess cutting him off - in fact, it had been the other way round.

Jess proved her credibility by attempting to call Lee there and then, but the call was unable to connect. She then explained to Linda that Lee had developed a drinking problem, which began around the time Mick Carter disappeared. The situation worsened when Mick's death certificate arrived, and Linda was caught off-guard when Jess revealed that Lee had had the certificate revoked.

Linda confronts Lee over the vodka

Linda later confronted Lee about the revelation, but he was adamant that without irrefutable proof that Mick was dead, he wasn't prepared to accept the possibility. He suggested he could have suffered memory loss or something similar, which would explain why he hadn't come home.

Linda was clearly not convinced, but she didn't have the opportunity to argue. As Lee walked away, she picked up the orange juice he'd left behind and was devastated to realise it had vodka mixed in.

When Linda exposed this to the family, Lee continued to deny that he had a problem. The question remains whether the family will be able to help him.
