EastEnders star Lacey Turner has revealed that she and co-star Louisa Lytton were once given a 'very serious telling off' by producers after a fit of giggles halted filming on the BBC soap.
The 38-year-old, best known for playing Stacey Slater since 2004, said she and Louisa, who plays Ruby Allen, were "really mischievous" during their early days on the show, leading to a reprimand from the production manager.
Giggles During Filming
Asked by Heat Magazine if she had ever got into trouble on set, Lacey said: "Louise Lytton [Ruby Allen] and I were really mischievous back in the day. On one particular day of filming, we'd had enough."
"When you work on a soap, it's a relentless schedule and we were so exhausted that we ended up with the giggles and couldn't stop. We were sent to the production manager's office for wasting time," she added.
Describing the telling-off, Lacey said: "Only when we got there, during the very serious telling off, Louisa and I kept poking each other in the leg because behind the production manager on the wall was a picture of the two of us dressed up as Peggy and Pat from a heat photoshoot! I don't know how we held it together, we were crying with laughter as soon as we left the room."
Stacey's Departure and Strictly Success
Stacey departed Walford last year to start a new life in Brazil with her brother Sean Slater, played by Robert Kazinsky, and her two youngest children. Since leaving the soap, Lacey has admitted she hopes to return one day, telling Prima magazine: "I miss Stacey, so one day, I hope to go back – but when that is, I'm not sure."
Away from EastEnders, Lacey is currently competing on Strictly Come Dancing 2026, partnered with professional dancer Vito Coppola. Last week, the pair secured their highest score of the series so far, earning 29 out of 40 points for their American Smooth to Adele during Icons Week.
A New Challenge
The actress previously revealed she had turned down the opportunity to compete on Strictly before finally agreeing to take part. Explaining what changed her mind, she told Radio Times: "I just thought, you know, I'm 38 and I need to be a bit brave. I'm not at EastEnders at the moment, so this is the perfect opportunity, and it is just such a lovely opportunity that not many people get. So I'd be a fool not to take it."
Although she is accustomed to being in front of the cameras, Lacey admitted that taking on a role that allows viewers to see her true personality has been "nerve-wracking". "So this will sort of be the first time that I've sort of put myself out there for the nation to get to know. It is quite scary because it's quite easy to hide behind a character. But that is a challenge that I want to overcome," she added.
