EastEnders' Jasmine's Fate Sealed After Max Branning Lie

EastEnders' Jasmine Fisher has added libel to her list of crimes after she falsely accused Max Branning of trying to kiss her. The desperate teen, who killed Anthony Trueman in self-defence, spread the lie to stop Max from exposing her secrets to her boyfriend Oscar Branning.

In the episode aired on 20 January, Jasmine planned to flee Walford with Oscar, terrified that her secret would be revealed. She attempted to extort money from her adoptive mother to fund a trip to Thailand, but Max overheard the phone call and confronted her, threatening to tell Oscar the truth.

Unable to reason with Max, Jasmine pushed him and screamed, pretending to Oscar and her grandmother Kat that Max had tried to kiss her. Actor Jake Wood, who plays Max, confirmed on This Morning that the other characters will believe Jasmine's lie due to Max's reputation as a womaniser.

Fans have taken to social media to express their frustration, predicting that Jasmine's lie will be believed. One wrote: 'The way everyone’s gonna believe that Max kissed Jasmine bc of his track record is gonna take me out because for once in his life he’s actually telling the truth.' Another branded Jasmine 'the devil' for her actions.

However, some viewers believe Jasmine's fate is sealed. One fan theorised that Lauren Branning will eventually kill Jasmine, pointing to Lauren's mysterious behaviour in the New Year's Day flashforward episode. They noted that Jasmine was absent from that episode, suggesting her death is imminent.
