EastEnders hints at tragic Christmas end for Denise

The latest EastEnders winter trailer has sparked fears among fans that Denise Fox (Diane Parish) could face a devastating Christmas, with hints that she may decide to stop her cancer treatment.

In the trailer, Denise is seen cuddling a worried Amy (Ellie Dadd) before telling her family, 'I told them… I want to stop'. The reaction on their faces suggests Denise is resigned to halting her treatment, according to a Metro report.

Denise's battle with leukemia

Denise has been fighting leukemia that has proven resistant to chemotherapy. She has also been unable to find a match for a stem cell transplant, and none of her family can help, including her long-lost brother Darnell (Christopher Colquhoun).

The stress of life on the Square has not helped, especially with her step-daughter Amy in the clutches of predatory detective Craig (Matthew James Bailey). This has contributed to Denise's condition taking a dramatic turn for the worse, with collapses and nose bleeds.

Max Branning's fate in question

The trailer also features Max Branning (Jake Wood), who is punched twice, threatened by various characters three times, and receives five looks that could kill, along with a shot of a gun on a table. Max has alienated many, having left Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) shortly after their wedding and having slept with Ravi's wife (Aaron Thiara).

Despite the threats, some fans expect Max to survive, but the trailer includes an ominous close-up of a death certificate that could be for him. The focus, however, remains on Denise, with fans hoping she will live to be fabulous another day and that whoever gets shot is the only casualty of this year's festive fatality.
