EastEnders flashforward hints as Max exposed by Jack

EastEnders fans think this week's episodes have given new clues about the flashforward episode, ahead of New Year's Day 2027, after Max Branning's latest drama on the soap. The New Year's Day episode will see Max and his family take centre stage, with wedding hints, couples torn apart and teasers about new romances.

Jack confronts Max over Amy's inheritance

In the latest episode, Jack was frantic after finding out his daughter Amy had been seeing his former colleague Craig, who is much older than the teen. Craig has manipulated and groomed Amy into what she believes is a normal relationship. With her uncle Max's help, Amy has received the money from her inheritance fund, and she has now fled with Craig. Jack is fearing for his daughter's safety knowing that Craig has this money, and that he was dismissed from work due to gross misconduct.

So when Max admitted he'd signed the forms to release the money, Jack lost it. Max told Jack he has "messed up" and vowed to put everything right, but Jack told him to stay away from them. Later, Max begged Jack to hear him out, and hints about a murder aired. Jack said he was going to find and "get rid of Craig permanently".

Fans speculate on murder and framing

Fans are now questioning whether Jack kills Craig and sets Max up for the crime. One fan said: "I think Jack finds out about the money Amy sent Max and is the one who frames him in the New Year episode." Another added: "Eastenders new clue to a potential murder that Max could be involved in."

Another scene saw Jasmine Fisher decide to take her late mother's surname and become a Slater. Some fans wondered if this meant the flashforward scene between Oscar Branning and Patrick Trueman was now clearer. In the flashforward, Patrick tells Oscar he is "part of the family now". With Jasmine becoming a Slater and not a Trueman, does this hint it's not her that Oscar ends up with, and that Oscar reunites with Josh instead? A fan asked: "So if Jasmine is changing her name to Slater then that feels like its confirmation that Oscar is with Josh."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
