EastEnders enthusiasts are convinced that another major character is set to return to Albert Square, following the comeback of Max Branning. Jake Wood has reprised his role as Max, and now fans believe that Jo Joyner, who played Max's wife Tanya, may also be returning.
Jo Joyner commented on a social media post featuring the Brannings, writing: "What a team xx". This has sparked speculation that she could be making a comeback as Tanya Branning. The BBC soap has seen several high-profile returns recently, including Michelle Ryan as Zoe Slater.
Jake Wood revealed that his character Max has a connection with Zoe Slater, and their return to Walford will be filled with drama. He said: "I knew that Michelle was coming back – really pleased that she was coming back and she wasn't being recast... I do return for a little bit. It's quite soon before my sort of permanent return, and there's lots of drama and chaos to issue."
Wood also discussed the relationship between Max and Zoe, stating: "I think the relationship between them is genuine. I think there are genuine feelings between them... But I think by the time Max comes back onto the Square, it's just become very complicated." He added that their connection stems from Zoe's search for her son, which Max helps fund, resonating with Max's own strained relationship with his children.
