EastEnders fans 'solve' who really left Zoe Slater to die

EastEnders viewers are convinced that someone other than Max Branning left Zoe Slater to die, as her funeral aired and a new fan theory points to her son Josh as the last person to see her alive.

In the episodes, Max was shown leaving Zoe unintentionally, not realising she had hit her head and was unwell. Zoe asked Max for help, but he thought she was drunk and left her, and she later died from her injuries.

Fan Theory Points to Josh

Despite Max being revealed as the last person to see Zoe, fans cannot shake the theory that Josh might actually have been there that night. They questioned whether Josh could have found his mother and left her to die, which might explain his recent strange behaviour.

While there is nothing to suggest this will happen, fans think Josh is acting out of character. Some believe it is because his mother has passed away, while others wonder if it is guilt and whether he is hiding that he saw her and left her before she died.

One fan posted online: "There's gonna be a twist in the Zoe story where Josh actually went into her room after Max left, surely?" A second added: "I don't think it was Max that left Zoe I think it was Josh."

A third fan said: "As much as I'm not 100% convinced by this theory I've just thought about Jasmine watching her adoptive dad Keith die after a car accident. Now the parallel what if Josh was there to watch Zoe die off screen moments after Max left?"

Josh's Shifty Behaviour

Another fan wrote: "I'm becoming more and more convinced it was Josh that actually left Zoe and not Max. He's been very shifty ever since, even down to the way he has spoken about Zoe."

The fan added: "The entire thing with Max just feels forced, almost too obvious. If anything the Flashforward has told us is anything is possible, but why would the wedding party be at The Vic if this came out."

It comes as spoilers revealed that Zoe's cousin Sean Slater is heading back to the show as part of a separate storyline. Sean tries to help Jack Branning find his missing daughter Amy Mitchell.

Things are tense between Sean and Jack after Sean's return as they continue to search for Amy. Lily is annoyed with Sean for not checking in since his comeback, and soon Sean's clashing with Jack and Max.

Soon Lily reveals Amy opened an online bank account using Charli's tablet, and Sean and co hand over the information to the police. Meanwhile, Amy and Craig hide in a bedsit, but it's clear Amy is nervous around Craig.

When Amy's money is frozen, Craig hits her. Sean suggests Denise records a plea for missing Amy to come home.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
