EastEnders is set to broadcast Amy Mitchell's departure following the dramatic death of Craig Ingram, though the teenager will eventually return to Albert Square.
Craig Ingram (Matthew James-Bailey) groomed Amy (Ellie Dadd) after they met during the inquiry into Joel Marshall's (Max Murray) assault. Having persuaded Amy that he loved her, Craig orchestrated their departure from Walford before her father, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), could reveal that Craig had been struck off for his conduct towards female colleagues, including sexual misconduct and harassment. They also persuaded Max Branning (Jake Wood) to release Amy's £100,000 inheritance from her late grandfather, Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb).
A Fatal Confrontation
Craig was also violent towards Amy, with their final confrontation seeing him attempt to harm her again, prompting Amy to defend herself. Amy struck him over the head with a candlestick and unintentionally killed him, before leaving the scene without summoning the emergency services.
Amy returned home and sought solace in her former stepfather, Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky), but did not reveal that Craig had died when questioned by officers.
Departure from Walford
In forthcoming episodes, broadcasting from Monday (November 9), Amy continues to struggle after unintentionally killing Craig, and clashes with Jack and Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman). When Sean locates Amy, he suggests she take a break from Walford, but Jack appears and demands she return home.
It is Denise Fox (Diane Parish), who is currently undergoing lifesaving treatment for cancer, who ultimately convinces Jack to see reason, and together they arrange for Amy to stay with relatives away from Walford while she recovers from recent traumatic events. The BBC soap has yet to confirm when Amy will make her return to Albert Square.
Amy Mitchell's Age and Background
Amy Mitchell was born on November 14, 2008, making her 17 years old. She is the daughter of Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) and Jack Branning; however, when she was born, her mother told Sean Slater that he was Amy's biological father.
Sean embarked on a romance with Roxy, and after numerous setbacks, the pair wed. Roxy later gave birth to a baby girl, whom she named Amy in memory of her sister Ronnie's baby. However, their marriage unravelled when it was revealed on Christmas Day in 2008 that Jack was in fact the biological father of the child, following a brief affair with Roxy. This led to Sean's dramatic exit from the soap in 2009.
Over the years, Sean, who has recently returned to Walford, has felt a deep paternal bond with Amy and is now playing a pivotal role in her life as the troubled teenager faces a challenging period following Craig's death. EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer.
