Emmerdale fans were stunned on Friday night as DI Dent made an unexpected return to the ITV soap, adding another twist to the Graham Foster storyline. The detective, played by Linda Armstrong, last appeared in 2020 investigating Graham's murder.
Joe Tate, who had grown suspicious after spotting Graham alive following the Corriedale crash, hired a private investigator. When he met the PI, DI Dent was also present. She insisted Graham was dead, claiming she had seen his body and identified him at the morgue.
Joe accepted her word, but viewers saw Dent making a cryptic phone call from her car. She told an unknown person, 'The job is done,' and that Joe had been told what he needed to hear, suggesting a cover-up.
Graham returned from the dead earlier this month, having been presumed killed by Pierce Harris in 2020. It remains unclear how he faked his death and who helped him. Dent's involvement raises questions about the extent of the conspiracy.
