Delta Goodrem will return to Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday after the BBC confirmed she has been given the all clear following a rib injury that forced her to miss Icons Week.
The Australian singer and her professional partner Kai Widdrington were granted a bye to the next week of the competition, which takes place on Saturday, 24 October. The BBC announced on Monday that Delta is set to make her comeback.
BBC confirms Delta's return
In a statement, the BBC said: "Following her bye last week due to injury, we're delighted to confirm Delta has been given the all clear to dance again this weekend."
The statement added: "She'll return to the #Strictly ballroom on Saturday night, and Abi Clarke will pop into her rehearsal room for a chat on Training Room Diaries on Wednesday evening."
Fans reacted with excitement on social media, with one writing: "YES TEAM DELTAKAI! ! ! ! !" Another commented: "Yesss thank goodness for that, cannot wait to see them back on the floor."
Delta's injury and recovery
Last week, the BBC revealed Delta would miss the live show, stating: "Due to injury, Delta Goodrem has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance on this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing."
The statement continued: "In line with the rules of the show, Delta and Kai will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish Delta the very best as she continues her recovery."
Delta previously said she was "absolutely gutted" about the injury, adding: "I've been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking - especially after the high of Saturday night."
She also shared a photo of herself resting under a blanket, thanking fans for their support and saying she would be "cheering everyone on from my couch on Saturday night".
Strictly returns this weekend
