Delta Goodrem cleared to return to Strictly after injury

Delta Goodrem will return to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom this Saturday (October 24) after being given the all clear following a rib injury that forced her to miss the latest live show.

The singer and her professional partner Kai Widdrington were absent from the October 17 episode, which featured the annual Icons Week special. Celebrities were tasked with channelling famous singers, including Adele, RAYE, Elton John and Frank Sinatra, but Delta was unable to pay tribute to her own icon, the late Olivia Newton-John.

Injury and bye confirmed

At the start of last week, it was confirmed that Delta was injured and would not perform. In a statement, she said: "I’m absolutely gutted that a rib injury means I won’t be able to dance on Strictly this week. I’ve been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking - especially after the high of Saturday night. I cannot tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show."

She added: "I’m going to focus on resting and recovering, and hopefully I’ll be back on that dancefloor very soon. Thank you so much to everyone for all the love and support. It’s so appreciated. I’ll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week! Sending all my love, Delta."

As per the show's rules, Delta was given a bye through to week five of the 2026 series, which takes place this Saturday.

All clear for weekend return

On Monday (October 19), it was confirmed that Delta will be back on the dance floor alongside Kai this weekend. A statement on Strictly's social media channels read: "Following her bye last week due to injury, we’re delighted to confirm Delta has been given the all clear to dance again this weekend."

The update continued: "She’ll return to the #Strictly ballroom on Saturday night, and Abi Clarke will pop into her rehearsal room for a chat on Training Room Diaries on Wednesday evening."
