Death in Paradise returns for a new series on Friday 30 January, introducing a rebellious new sergeant, Mattie Fletcher, played by Catherine Garton. The character brings a fresh dynamic to the Saint Marie police team, with a blend of experience and a rebellious streak that contrasts with rookie Officer Sebastian Rose.
DI Mervin Wilson, played by Don Gilet, continues to adjust to island life while grappling with his newly discovered half-brother Solomon. The pair prove to be polar opposites, with Solomon potentially on the wrong side of the law, frustrating Mervin's hopes for a close family bond.
Commissioner Selwyn Patterson faces the fallout from his recent absence, seeking to regain the island's trust with help from old friend Catherine Bordey. Meanwhile, DS Naomi Thomas and Officer Rose help new recruit Sergeant Fletcher settle in, though her past begins to surface.
Viewers can also expect lighter moments, including Mervin losing his clothes and being forced into unfamiliar attire, as well as an unexpected dip in a swimming pool. The series airs on BBC One and iPlayer from 30 January at 9pm.
