Fans missing Ben Miller's character Richard Poole from the BBC's Death in Paradise have been directed to an ITV alternative. Miller played Detective Richard Poole in the first two series of the popular crime drama before his character was killed off in the third series premiere.
A recent Reddit thread titled 'I miss Richard' prompted suggestions from viewers, with one user recommending the ITV series 'Professor T', in which Miller stars as the titular criminologist. Another fan described the show as 'fantastic'.
Professor T follows the brilliant but eccentric Professor Jasper Tempest from the University of Cambridge, who assists police investigations while managing obsessive-compulsive disorder. The series, adapted from a Belgian drama, also stars Emma Naomi, Barney White, and Frances de la Tour.
The show originally launched on BritBox in June 2021 before airing on ITV that summer. Four series are currently available, with a fifth in production this year.
Miller left Death in Paradise in 2014 to spend more time with his family. He told Digital Spy that his wife Jessica discovered she was pregnant shortly after he arrived in the Caribbean to film, prompting his decision to quit the show.
