Craig Revel Horwood Calls Strictly Icons Week Outfit a 'Complete Disaster'
Craig Revel Horwood: Strictly Icons Week Outfit a 'Disaster'

Craig Revel Horwood did not hold back when discussing his Icons Week outfit on Strictly Come Dancing. On Saturday night (October 17), BBC viewers saw Craig dressed as one of the Gallagher Brothers, with Anton Du Beke portraying the other sibling.

The judges wore brown wigs, spectacles and green parka jackets, while Craig also had a tambourine positioned over his head. Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse took on the personas of Beyoncé and Lady Gaga from the music video Telephone.

Craig's 'Complete Disaster' Costume

While viewers found the get-ups amusing, Craig was far from pleased. Speaking to Tyler West on the spin-off programme Strictly: Lights Up, he called it a "disaster". When asked how challenging it was to deliver serious constructive criticism in his costume, Craig said: "I couldn't stand it. I'm being honest. No, I couldn't see anything through the glasses because they were so dark. I had to have them up while I was watching the routine. But then I couldn't read any notes that I'd made, so for me, it was a complete disaster."

Tyler joked that this was the reason he handed out so many eights to the contestants, to which Craig remarked it "might have been". He added, "Happier with the scoring, but I was not happy inside."

Craig also admitted he could not bring himself to glance in the mirror while wearing the costume, confessing he was "too afraid". He revealed: "As soon as they painted the monobrow on me, I went, 'I spent all my life plucking in between here' and then they painted that terrible monobrow on there."

Contestants' Transformations and Sarah Storey's Exit

The judges were not the only ones transforming into famous faces, as contestants also donned the guises of Adele, Elton John, David Bowie and Raye. Audiences saw the highest score of the series to date, with Jaime Winstone and Cach Mercer both receiving 34 in week four.

However, the episode marked the end of one celebrity's journey. Sarah Storey's time came to a close after she found herself in the dance-off against Bethany Antonia. The judges unanimously chose to spare Bethany, making Sarah the third contestant to exit the BBC programme.

Reflecting on her experience in an Instagram post following her elimination, Sarah paid tribute to her professional partner Julian Caillon, writing: "Thank you for being the best pro I could have ever wished for @julian_caillon, you really are a wonderful and fabulous human, and I so loved our time on the show. Shorter than we wished for, I will miss not learning a new dance with you tomorrow and trying to put all the tips and feedback into practice. PS I love your idea of a bike ride."

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 6:30pm.
