Corrie: Tyrone stuns Fiz with sexist attitude to Ruby boxing

Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) stuns Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) in Coronation Street when he tells Ruby (Billie Naylor) that boxing isn't for girls, under the influence of his long-lost dad Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield).

Ross has been a disruptive presence since his reappearance, arranged by Hope (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby. Tyrone respects Ross as a former soldier but remains blind to his dark side, including his past exploitation of Tyrone's mother Cassie (Claire Sweeney).

Ross's Dark Past and Suspicious Behaviour

Ross slept with Cassie when she was underage for money, exploiting her homelessness and heroin addiction. Cassie's attempt to spike his smoothie to fail a drug test backfired when Ross tricked Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) into drinking it, leading Tyrone to cut off his mum and Cassie to leave the Street—possibly in Ross's car as he sped off.

Fiz has suspicions about Ross, especially after finding Cassie's treasured family photograph in his wallet, which she would never leave behind. Ross offered a plausible explanation that Tyrone accepted, but Fiz remained unconvinced.

Boxing Disagreement and Confrontation

After Ross persuades Tyrone to force Dorin (Henry Nye Meller) to start boxing, Ruby becomes interested in the sport. Ross disapproves, and Tyrone, under his influence, says it's not for girls and he wouldn't want her to get hurt. Hope calls her dad out for sexism until he backs down and agrees Ruby can go.

Later, Tyrone is drinking with Ross in the Rovers when Fiz texts asking for popcorn for their film night. Ross tells him to ignore it, pockets the phone, and persuades Tyrone to have another pint. Fiz is annoyed when Tyrone returns home drunk and packs him off to bed. When a hungover Tyrone reveals Ross confiscated his phone, Fiz is fuming and confronts Ross, accusing him of sabotaging the family film night on purpose.
